Sanniya Dennis is a SUNY Buffalo State College student. The college student, from the Bronx, made headlines after she went missing. People in New York City, Buffalo State College, and Niagara Falls were on alert to keep an eye out for the young college student.
During her disappearance, more details started to surface about the Sanniya Dennis case. According to investigators, Dennis called her boyfriend, rumored to be ex-boyfriend, around 60 times. Sanniya Dennis boyfriend never picked up her calls. Sanniya Dennis also told her friend that she was suicidal before her death.
The young college student was captured leaving the SUNY Buffalo State campus around 11 P.M. According to Erie County District Attorney, Sanniya Dennis threw away personal items in her dorm that will make people suspect she was not returning.
Officials have not found the body of Sanniya Dennis, and it is suspected that Dennis pinned her body down near the rocks on the falls. There is a possibility that Sanniya Dennis’s family may never get to return her body home.
Sanniya Dennis is a teenager with a long life ahead of her. There are so many signs that parents can learn from the Sanniya Dennis case. First, parents needs to be cautious of who their children surround themselves with. When Sanniya Dennis told her friend she was suicidal, that particular person should have told the authorities. Suicide is nothing that should ever be taken lightly. On the other hand, many teenagers are scared of confiding to therapists, teachers, parents, and even authorities. Maybe Dennis’s friend was scared of telling a professor that her friend was suicidal. At the same time, I would rather lose a friend oppose to my friend being dead.
Secondly, parents need to know who their child is romantically involved with. Parents never know what their child is truly doing on campus. Some parents tend to lose touch with their children while they attend college away. Furthermore, college students have a different life on social media. Documenting college experiences on private stories are something that parents will most likely never see. So when dating becomes a priority in someone’s life, parents need to take head to that.
