The Met Gala is known as the charity event where A-Lister’s attend to flaunt exquisite designs from various couture/designer brands. Even though this years Met Gala was highly regarded as the “Influencer Gala,” there were still looks that made millions of people admire with their Anna Wintour critiques. Now to keep it real, the 2021 Met has to be one of of my least favs, but some of these looks will go down in Met history. This years theme was American Fashion which was highly misunderstood on the carpet. Without a dramatic closing, let me show you my favorite Met looks this year.
1. Ciara Seahawks Dress
Ciara’s dress was designed by Peter Dundas, but was actually inspired from the jersey dress by the iconic Geoffrey Beene. Ciara honored her husband, Russell Wilson, with her jersey number front and center. Ciara wore a sleek ponytail with a gorgeous cat eye, green nails, contacts, and a bedazzled football clutch. The most standout accessory from this look may not be the clutch, but it’s actually Wilson’s Super Bowl ring from 2014.
2. Anok Yai Oscar De la Renta Dress
Anok Yai is stunning on and off the runway, and Oscar De la Renta made her look like a actress from the 1960’s. The low cut dress, pixie cut, and jewels tied the look together to correspond with the theme. My favorite piece from this look was the fur cover up which made the outfit look more glamorous than ever.
3. Iman Dolce & Gabbana Dress X Harris Reed
There are no words to describe this beautiful dress. Iman proved last night that her reign being an icon will never fade. The head dress, jumpsuit, and the entire look is breath taking. I am not quite too sure how this look fits with American Fashion, but Harris Reed design for Iman will take him much further in the fashion industry.
4. Yara Shahidi Dior Dress
Yara Shahidi honored Josephine Baker will this Met Gala look, and she did not disappoint. The veil, one in a kind jewelry, and the dress were perfect to tie with the custom Dior dress. Yara Shahidi was one of the few celebrities that actually understood what the theme was. I can not wait to see Yara Shadidi future Met Galas looks.
6. Kendall Jenner Givenchy Dress
Kendall’s dress is something that is becoming very common on the red carpet, and it is anything sheer. Kendall Jenner’s dress was actually inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s dress in My Fair Lady. Kendall’s dress was the main focal point since her hair was simple. The supermodel also decided to not wear any earrings.
