People today do not focus on the overall subject of depression. People tend to believe that only adults have depression. What people tend to not realize is that teenagers have depression as well. According to Psychiatry.org, depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. Luckily, depression can be treated. When teenagers tend to be down, many adults do not take action. Adults think that when teenagers tend to be down, teenagers are just “moody”. Twenty percent of teenagers suffer from depression during high school. Depression can lead to many dangerous complications. For example, suicide, poor school performance, self injury, and addiction. Also, many teenagers tend to not talk to their parents about their issues. Many parents are blinded by their children problems. Children tend to put on a fake mask around their parents. Behind closed doors, children take off their mask and are struggling. Many shows show the real life issues of mental illness.These shows include 13 Reasons Why, American Horror Story: Cult, and This is Us.
