Young Thug fans are rejoicing since the rapper released his latest project, Slime Language 2. The second track on the album, “Ski”, features both Thug and Gunna. The song has taken over social media with the “ski challenge.”
In the music video, Young Thug and Gunna are seen celebrating at a lavish party. Taking a closer look, you will see black TikTokers in their element. If you guys were not aware, black dance creators are often robbed of the credibility they deserve. In March, Jimmy Fallon faced a mass amount of backlash when Addison Rae taught him Tiktok dances. In this video, Rae teaches the host dances which were created mostly by black dancers. After the backlash, Fallon gave each creator credit on his show the following day.
To highlight young black dancers the right way, the rappers gave them their chance to shine in the “Ski” music video. The TikTokers featured in the music video included Mya Nicole Johnson, Chris Cotter, Keara Wilson, and more.
It remains important that black content creators receive their credit. In the entertainment industry, most people may get steered in the wrong direction. With Gunna and Thug featuring black creators, this will open the door for other black creators to shine. Beyond the color of our skin, being black does not mean that opportunities should be limited,
