The “Boy Is Mine Tour”is not just a concert. This tour is reminding millions of people that R&B royalty is back and better than ever. The tour seems to be the celebrity hot spot with Rihanna, Beyoncé, Patti LaBelle, Kehlani, and various other stars in attendance.
Monica and Brandy are powerhouses in their own right. For over two decades, the R&B queens spent over two decades being compared to. Constant questions hovering over them, and fake narratives being created, it seemed that Brandy and Monica would never tour together.
With “The Boy is Mine” being one of the most legendary music duets, the music industry made millions due to a villain narrative. 26 years later, this tour is proving why things are better late than never.
I recently attended “The Boy is Mine Tour”, and it was truly impeccable. As someone who loves R&B, I was captivated by Brandy and Monica’s stage presence. I arrived just in time to see Kelly Rowland, and she was by far the best opening act I have seen. Kelly Rowland could’ve had her own tour with her veteran stage presence and vocals. While performing various of her hit singles, and Destiny’s Child hits, she had the crowd singing every single lyric. The Prudential Center loved every single second, and I barely even saw anyone sitting down.
What I loved the most about the tour was that Brandy and Monica’s stage presence was ying and yang. Monica lit up the arena with her live vocals, theatrics, and dancing to various mashups. While reminding the crowd she was from Atlanta, Monica’s bold fashion matched her legendary catalog. She even said that it time to retire the white sandals featured in the “Before You Walk out My Life” music video. Even though effort was made, I do not think this will ever happen. Brandy stole the show with her live vocals, and her dancing that shocked me. To be honest, I never expected Brandy to have some great dance moves.

While many people argue that Brandy could’ve done this out alone, I am one to argue that statement. “The Boy is Mine” changed R&B forever. With millions of women singing a boy was theirs, Brandy and Monica had a number one single that won them a Grammy. “The Boy is Mine” spent 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Boy Is Mine still remains superior in R&B. It seems that the single is still new; people of all ages, and backgrounds, still play this song like it just released.
Even though this tour should’ve happened in the late 90’s, I am glad that Brandy and Monica came together as a unit. After years of people debating who is better than the other, the tour was needed in the music industry. The duo proves that they are not stopping anytime soon. Brandy and Monica have had brand deal after another. On top of that, they inspired Ariana Grande to release her own version of “The Boy is Mine”. You thought that I was done? It has also been announced that Brandy and Monica will have a Vegas residency in 2026.
